Are you ready to move from surviving to thriving? In this high-octane session, we’re breaking down the five essential "power moves" every educator needs to ignite student engagement and reclaim their joy. Inspired by the Get Your Teach On movement, join us for a deep dive into the "Five to Thrive" framework: a curated set of five transformative practices designed to streamline your planning, amplify student voice, and create a culture of excellence. We’re stripping away the fluff and focusing on the high-leverage moves that get results. You’ll leave with a concrete roadmap to "thrive" in today’s classroom without losing your spark. Let’s turn up the volume on learning!
How can PLCs move beyond routine meetings to become engines for instructional growth? In this session, elementary leaders will explore a practical PLC cycle designed to drive instructional impact. Participants will first examine the leadership framework that connects learning intentions with job-embedded coaching, collaborative PLC planning, classroom observation, and targeted feedback. We will then look at what this cycle looks like in action within language arts PLCs, math PLCs, and special education team meetings. Attendees will leave with a replicable approach for building high-impact PLCs that strengthen teacher clarity, collective efficacy, and support future-ready learners.
Ready to transform your classroom energy? Discover engaging brain break strategies that spark curiosity, boost focus, and allow students a chance to refocus. Join this session to learn simple, effective ways to re-energize your students and keep them actively engaged from start to finish.
Preparing future-ready learners requires teaching students how to think, not just what to learn. In this session, educators will explore how visible learning routines in upper elementary science and literacy (grades 3–5) support the development of executive functioning and deeper comprehension. Participants will examine the use of strategies to help students analyze models, organize information, and articulate understanding. These strategies strengthen student ownership of learning, critical thinking, and cross-curricular connections, aligning with Virginia Beach’s strategic goals for engaged, empowered learners.
