About me
I am a Personal Finance, Life Skills, and Academic Concepts (Resource) Teacher at Ocean Lakes High School (9-12th grade/ Cross Categ - ED/LD/ID). I am a graduate of Clemson University (BA 1998), ODU Masters (2002), and ODU EDS (2008) and heading into my 25th year of education. My greatest professional accomplishment on paper is earning Teacher of the Year 5 years ago, however when former students contact me and ask me to be a job reference or show me pictures of their spouses and/or babies that means the world to me.
I am a wife to a Homicide Detective. That makes parenting a little bit tougher, but we are so proud of what he does. I’m Mommy to 3 wild and amazing little men. I’m passionate about working hard, equality, and healthy living. I am a lover of all things- especially when they involve caffeine. My writing has been featured through Her View from Home, in Reader's Digest, Scary Mommy (It's Personal), Red Mill Living, Pregnancy Corner, Kindness Matters, and Love What Matters Most. When I’m not dreaming of saving the world, I’m chasing after my three boys. Being a teacher and Mom is not easy, but it is worth every second!
